How to find the right cigar
So you are new to the world of fine cigars! Here are a few pointers to think about.Firstly, understand your own tastes.
Tastes often go hand in hand, for example, you like your coffee strong and black, you will probably wish to go for rich and robust flavoured cigars. Your taste leans to creamy coffee or flavoured teas, you may well find mellow and creamy cigars more your cup of tea, so to speak.
Secondly, how much time do you have available.
You have a ten minute break, you wish to linger over your coffee after lunch for half an hour, or, perhaps, a couple of hours after dinner, with your feet up, listening to music, with a glass of Irish whisky. Take into account both thickness and length of your cigar, it is no good lighting up a Churchill, with a ring gauge of 48 to 52 and a length of almost 7 inches, for a ten minute or half an hour slot!
Thirdly be adventurous:
Enjoy the challenge, experiment and allow your tastes to develop. When I first started drinking wine, I liked wine that was more medium to sweet and easy drinking, that soon developed into a wish for drier and more complex styles. Although I still enjoy an asti on a hot summer's afternoon, accompanied by a bowl of strawberries.
It is often better for the beginner to begin with the easier smoking, more mellow types of cigars, but you know what? Your taste is supreme, it is what you enjoy that is right for you.
