Setting up your humidor
You have made the decision to keep your cigars in peak condition and have purchased your beautiful, new humidor. You must now resist filling it up immediately with your prized collection of smokes! It takes a little time for the humidity level in your new humidor to reach equilibrium. If you put your cigars in before this is reached, the wood will leach the moisture from your cigars.Re-humidfy your humidor
- Fill a shallow bowl with distilled water and place in your humidor
- Place inside your humidor a calibrated hygrometer
- Charge the humidification device and place inside your humidor
Monitor the hygrometer
Check the relative humidity daily. It can take from a few days, to a few weeks for this to stabilise. The humidity should sit in the 70 range. Once this range has been reached, allow it to stabilise within this range for at least a week.
Recharge your humidification device.
Remember to keep your humidification device charged and your humidor will always be ready and waiting to be filled with your collection of cigars.
